What is YazidiBooks?

YazidiBooks is a free Yazidi app for learning about and preserving Yazidi heritage (also written Ezidi, Yezidi or Êzîdî). It brings together books on the Yazidi faith, holidays and prayers, illustrated stories for children, a guided learning path with quizzes and Kurmanji vocabulary practice, an audio library of prayers, qewlên and songs, and classes run by real teachers.

Yes. The app is free to download and free to use, with no ads and no in-app purchases.

Which devices does it work on?

YazidiBooks runs on iPhone and iPad (from the App Store) and on Android phones and tablets (from Google Play).

Which languages is the app in?

The whole app is available in five languages: Kurmanji in Latin script (Hawar), Kurmanji in Arabic script, English, German and Arabic, with full right-to-left support. Books and stories come in Kurmanji, Arabic, German and English, and many stories exist in all five editions.

Who is YazidiBooks for?

For Yazidi children and young people who want to learn about their faith and language, for parents who want to read with their children, and for teachers running religion or language classes. Books for adult readers are on the way.

Do I need an account?

Yes. You can sign up with an email address, with Google, or with Apple on iPhone. Your account saves your reading progress, quiz results and points, and keeps them in sync across your devices.

Can I read without an internet connection?

Yes. Download a book once and you can read it offline. Your progress is saved on the device and sent to your account when you are back online.

How do classes work?

A teacher creates a class and shares its class code. Students enter the code in the app to join, and then see the books, quizzes, vocabulary sets and audio their teacher assigns, with due dates. The teacher follows each student’s progress.

How do I become a teacher on YazidiBooks?

Create an account in the app, open Profile and choose Become a Teacher. Send a short introduction and an admin will review your request and contact you.

Are the stories made with AI?

Many of the children’s stories are created with the help of AI tools, starting from authentic Yazidi books and traditions. Every AI-assisted story is labelled as such on its page in the app.

What does the app do with my data?

The app stores only what it needs to run: your account details and your learning progress, on servers in the European Union. There are no ads and no analytics or advertising trackers in the app, only anonymous crash reports, and your data is never sold. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.
